Sunday July 10th

On Sunday we played the fabulous Strandhill Golf Club, the course was in super condition and mother nature was reasonably kind to us. Well done to another of our new members Tony Lennon who shot a great score of 38 points, all the more impressive given he was in Dillons the previous night till the early hours of the morning!! 2nd place with a brilliant score of 36 points (off a Handicap of 8) was Barry Maxwell and 3rd place went to Michael Heffernan who shows that it pays to play the course the previous week! Think everyone is looking forward to heading back there again next year already.

Sunday May 29th

Once again we made our annual trip to Knightsbrook Golf Club and as always it was in excellent condition, helped by sunshine and blue sky. Well done to one of new members Dermot McCrann who was the winner on the day with a great score of 33 points.

Sunday April 24th

We made our first outing to Clones Golf Club this month. Yet again we were lucky with the weather and despite some recent work on the greens the course was in great condition. Once again the standard was very high with the winning score this month a hugely impressive 38 points shot by Chris Coppinger. Chris proved that turning up ‘steamboats’ and looking like he had a fight with a tin of paint is the way to go for us all in the future to improve our golf game!

Saturday April 2nd

For this months outing we made the society’s first visit to the Co Meath Golf Club in Trim and were very impressed with both the facilities and the course, I’m sure we will be returning. The standard of play on the day was equally impressive and rumour has it that the handicap committee are sharpening their pencils….. Congrats to the winners on the day who all shot superb scores – result below.

Saturday February 27th

Our 2nd outing was held at Shane Lowry’s home course, Esker Hills. Apart from the greens which had only recently been forked the course was in excellent condition given the recent weather. The greens obviously didn’t bother the winners who all had great scores. 
Winner on the day was Chris Pryce with an excellent scores of 35pts (Handicap Committee have been alerted…), 2nd was Oliver Donohoe with 32pts, 3rd was Richard Maloney with 30pts.

Sunday January 31st

We held the first outing of 2016 at Mount Temple Golf Club. Despite the tough weather conditions we had a great turn out of 23 members which included 7 new / returning members; Dermot McCrann, Enda McHugh, Tony Lennon, Mick McHugh, Paul Brennan, Ian Reilly & Chris Pryce, the society welcomes you all and hope you have an enjoyable year.
Winner on the day was Eddie Connolly with an impressive score of 31pts, this feels a bit like deja vu…..but like I said at this time last year ‘Will this be Eddie’s year or could he regret being cut 2 shots so early’ !!

AGM:
Society AGM for 2016 will take place in O’Reilly Bar Drumlish @ 8.30pm on Thursday December 3rd.

CHRISTMAS PARTY:
Our 2015 xmas party will take place in Dillons Ballinamuck @8pm on Saturday December 19th, all members and wives/partners are welcome.

Saturday October 31st
Today was our final outing of the year and we played the Slieve Russell. Once again we were blessed with a lovely day and as always the SR course was in perfect condition. Well done to the winner on the day Darren Quinn with a great score of 32pts, 2nd place on count back went to John Crowe with 31pts, 3rd place also with 31pts went to Barry Maxwell and nearest the pin was won by Eddie Connolly. A big thank you to our sponsor on the day Sean Crowe.
As this was the final outing of the year the Player of Year was also concluded and our Player of the Year for 2015(JUST) was Aidan McKenna who some how almost managed to throw away a 12 point lead!! Well done Aidan, over the 10 months of golf it was fully deserved. He was pushed all the way by Barry Maxwell who finished 2nd and John Crowe who finished 3rd. Well done to all.
A great evening was had by all afterwards in Dillons to watch the Rugby World Cup final. A few even managed to make it to Drumlish later that night, however apparently our Player of the Year outstayed his welcome and had to be asked to leave……didn’t take him long to disrespect the player of the year title !!!

PS: The Xmas party for 2015 is booked for Saturday December 19th in Dillons at 8pm, hope to see all members and wifes/partners there on the night.

On Thursday October 8th we headed to Portimao, Algarve for Captain Neil Brady’s weekend away. In attendance was Sean Lennon, Ciaran Lennon, Mark Cunningham, Sean Crowe, Brian Duffy, Aidan McKenna, Darren Quinn, Brendan Larkin and Neil Brady. We stayed in the Tivoli Marina Hotel for 4 night and played 3 rounds of golf on Pestana courses – Gramacho, Alto & Silves.

Day 1 we played Gramacho golf course and unsurprisingly  the first day produced the highest scores (helped by only one night of beer on board). Winner on day 1 with a superb score of 38pts was Brian ‘Can’t remember last February’ Duffy, 2nd was Aidan ‘Smoking’ McKenna with an excellent 34pts and 3rd went to Mark ‘Paul Byron’ Cunningham with 29pts.

Day 2 we went swimming…..I mean golfing at Alto golf course. After 7 holes of pure hardship in p**sing rain we decided to call it a day and instead retire to the pub early for the Australia v Wales rugby match followed by a long evening on the beer!

Day 3 we played the excellent Silves golf course. The pressure was on and clearly it got to certain individuals who completely lost their way…. Winner on the day was Ciaran ‘McEnroe’ Lennon with a great score of 30pts, 2nd was Brendan ‘Wall Street’ Larkin with 30pts and 3rd went to Neil ‘Sepp Bock’ Brady also with 30pts.

Overall the Captain prizes results were as follows:
1st: Brian ‘Can’t remember last February’ Duffy
2nd: Brendan ‘Wall Street’ Larkin
3rd: Sean ‘Croke Park’ Lennon

Well done to everyone who traveled, a great weekend was had by all with the mighty Irish Rugby team helping to make a Super Sunday of it after disposing of the ‘Shaking French’.
