On Friday September 9th we headed to Naas for Captain John Crowe’s weekend away. In attendance was John Crowe, Eddie Connolly, Brian Massey, Martin Calliney, Sean Crowe, Tony Lennon, Michael McHugh, Aidan McKenna, Darren Quinn, Brendan Larkin and Neil Brady. We stayed in Naas town and played Palmerstown House on Friday and Heritage Killenard on Saturday.
Day 1 we played the fabulous Palmerstown House which proved a real challenge in probably the worst wind and rain we have ever played. Nevertheless there were decent scores, all things considered. The winner on day 1 was Neil Brady with a very very hard worked 28 pts, 2nd was Aidan McKenna with 27pts and nearest the pin was John Crowe.
Day 2 thankfully brought a welcome improvement to the weather with glorious sunshine and a blue sky. The Heritage is a wonderful course and provided a real challenge even in the good conditions. The winner on day 2 was Mick Mc Hugh with a title winning score of 35pts, 2nd was John Crowe with 32pts which off 4 was definitely the round of the weekend. Nearest the pin was Brendan Larkin.
Overall the Captain’s prizes results were as follows:
1st: Mick McHugh
2nd: Neil Brady
3rd: Tony Lennon
Well done to everyone who traveled and a great weekend was had by all. A big thank you to John Crowe who sponsored this years Captain’s prizes, these will be presented at our annual presentation night at our Christmas party in December.
Hope to see you all next year when it’s the turn of our incoming captain Aidan McKenna.
