Sunday April 29th

On Sunday we traveled to the fabulous Strandhill on a glorious day and had a great turnout of 24 members. With the course perfectly presented and great scoring conditions there were some great scores. Two of the best being from the winner Mick McHugh with 37 pts and even more impressively from John Crowe in 2nd place who had 33pts of a handicap of 3, clearly John is off too high a handicap!!  Full results as follows:

Sunday April 8th

After the postponement of our February outing on numerous occasions due to the fabulous Irish weather we finally got to play some golf. Today we played New Forest golf club and despite the very poor greens there were some great scores. 
Winner on the day was Enda McHugh with a fabulous round of golf and a great score of 39 points off 10. 2nd was Tony Lennon with 33pts, 3rd was Martin Culliney with 32 pts and Nearest the Pin was Sean Lennon, well done to all. 
Our next outing takes place at Strandhill on Sunday April 29th  @ 11am. Presentation for today’s outing will also take place that day.

Sunday January 28th

The first outing of the 2018 season took place today in Mount Temple. It was a windy day for golf but scoring was very good all the same. 
Winner on the day was Mick Kenny with an excellent scores of 37pts, showing that practice pays off. 2nd was Enda McHugh with 35pts, 3rd was Ian O’Reilly with 32 pts and Nearest the Pin was Tony Lennon, well done to all. Welcome back to Michael Heffernan who returned from long term injury and also welcome to our new member David McGowan.

Our next outing takes place at Rathcore Golf Club  on Sunday March 4th @ 11am. 

Our 2018 AGM will take place in Gallagher’s Bar Drumlish on Wednesday December 6th @ 8pm sharp. 

Our 2017 Presentation night will take place in Dillons Bistro Ballinamuck on Saturday December 16th @ 8pm.

Saturday November 4th

Our final outing of 2017 was held at Carrick on Shannon Golf Club. Considering the recent poor weather the course was presented in great condition. 16 players turned out to enjoy the golf and food and beer afterwards in O’Reillys Bar Drumlish. The standard of golf was high and the best score of the day was shot by Dermot McCrann with a great score of 37 points. 2nd place with his round of the year went to Mick Kenny with 34 points and 3rd place went to Brendan Larkin with 33 points.  
Congratulations to Martin Calliney who strolled to The Player of the Year title with an impressive total of 249 for his 8 best outings. 2nd place was Tony Lennon with 241 and 3rd was Michael McHugh with 238 points.

We will be having our Xmas party/Presentation night and AGM in December. Party provisionally booked for December 16th.

Sunday September 24th

Our penultimate outing was held today at the best course in the midlands, as ever the Slieve Russell was presented in pristine condition. There were lots of great rounds on the day with the score of the day going to Martin Calliney who looks to have wrapped up the player of the year title with 37 pts. Martin also won the Danny Toole Trophy which we played for on the day as well. A special thank you to Peter & Margaret Dillon (Dillon’s Ballinamuck) who made sure we were all well fed afterwards. Well done to all who made the effort to attend to support our sponsor.

On Sunday we returned from Captain Aidan McKenna’s weekend away in Praia Da Rocha, Portugal where we spent 4 Nights at the 5 Star Algarve Casino Hotel and played 3 rounds of golf at Alto, Vale da Pinta  & Morgado golf courses. A great time was had by all 10 who travelled. There was some great golf played by all in glorious 30 degree sunshine but the most consistent over the 3 rounds and winner of this years Captain’s prize was Michael Joyce with a great score of 90 points, 2nd place went to Michael McHugh with 89 points and 3rd went to Ian Reilly with 85 points, well done to all but in particular to Michael Joyce who played a great final round to win the prize. Think everyone is already looking forward to our next trip away in 2 years time!

Sunday August 27st

On Sunday we returned to New Forest and despite all the recent rain the course was in excellent condition. Scoring on the day was tough and the winning score was an impressive 32pts by Tony Lennon, 2nd was Neil Brady, 3rd was Barry Maxwell.

Sunday July 31st

On Sunday we played this years marquee course, Carton House. Apart from the greens which were recently sanded the course was in great condition and mother nature even surprised us with a much better day than was forecast.
Once again there was some great scores and it was good to see Ian O’Reilly back from injury and shooting a great score of 34pts, John Crowe continued his great play with another great round of 34pts which earned him 2nd place on count back. 3rd place was won by Barry Maxwell with 33pts and Nearest the Pin was won by Brendan Larkin.

Sunday June 15th

On Sunday we played the windy Strandhill Golf Club, the course was in great condition and mother nature was once again kind to us. Well done to John Crowe who shot the round of the year so far with an awesome round of 35pts off 5. 2nd place went to Brendan Larkin with a score of 34pts….something just doesn’t seem right about that sentence! 3rd place went to Mick Joyce on count back with 33pts. Once again it was a very slow round and this is something that we are going to have to try an address going forward.
