Sunday September 27th
Today we played our penultimate outing at Roscommon golf club. We were blessed with a lovely day and the course was in great condition. Congratulations to Brendan Larkin who was the winner on the day with 31 points, a great score but it doesn’t look like it will be enough to stop ‘The Champ’ elect Aidan McKenna taking the player of the year title after he finished 2nd with 30 points. 3rd place went to Brian Duffy with 28 points and nearest the pin was won by Eddie Connolly.
A big thank you to Benny & Cathal O’Reilly who providing the sponsorship on the day and food afterwards. Thank you to all who made the effort to attend the presentation in O’Reilly’s Bar afterwards.

On Sunday we played our rescheduled August outing on our home course of Longford. Well done to the club who presented the course in superb condition. This outing was also for the annual Danny Toole trophy and the winner on the day of both was Aidan McKenna with a very impressive score of 33 points, 2nd place went to Michael Heffernan with an excellent score of 31 points and 3rd place went to Neil Brady. Aidan’s handicap has now ‘plummeted’ all the way down to 22 and he is now the man to beat for the Player of the Year but he may have damaged his chances of winning another ‘European title’ !!
A big thank you to Peter Dillon for once again providing the sponsorship and food on the day. Thank you to all who made the effort to attend the presentation in Dillons afterwards.
Our next outing takes place in Roscommon on Sunday September 27th at 10.40am with presentation afterwards in O’Reillys Bar Drumlish who are sponsors for the day. Our final outing will now take place in the Slieve Russell @ 9.40 on Saturday October 31st – drinks afterwards in Dillons Ballinamuck.

On Sunday we played the ‘Augusta of Europe’ Druids Glen and oh how it lived up to it’s name. Drenched in wonderful sunshine the course was awesome, even if the overall standard of golf didn’t live up to it, except for the winner on the day Brian Duffy who had a very impressive score of 33 points, congratulation and well done Brian. Also congratulations to Darren Quinn and Kevin Kilraine who finished 2nd & 3rd respectively .
Hard luck to Aidan McKenna who started off very well but ran out of fuel shortly afterwards, a bit like his Mondeo it seems to be very difficult to judge how much fuel is required for a journey. Rumour has it he has called Larkin Aluminium to fit a window in the tank so it won’t happen again, a genius solution Aidan to a very common problem in brand new cars!!!
Finally I think it would be remiss of me if I didn’t mention the shot of the day, a 7 iron to the 151m Par 3 17th to 3 foot which was converted for birdie, well done to the player involved….brilliant brilliant shot!
Thanks very much to Mark Cunningham who sponsored the prizes for the day .
Hope to see you all at our next outing on Sunday July 26th in Knightsbrook at 11.30.
Results as follows:
