Saturday October 29th
Our final outing of 2016 was held at our home course of Longford Golf Club. 19 players turned out to enjoy the great day and despite the greens been recently sanded the course was in great condition. The standard of golf was very high and the best score of the day was shot by Mick McHugh with a great score of 39 points (his practice round last week obviously paid off). Nearest the Pin was won by Sean Lennon, while most players club of choice for the hole was a wedge, Sean opted for the putter and ran the ball 90m along the ground, through the leaves, all the way to the hole….rolling out nicely to 11 foot from the hole…..genius!!
The Player of the Year went down to the wire and with the current leader Chris Pryce taking holidays at the worst possible time it proved costly as a few players made late charges to knock him off top spot. The player who timed his charge perfectly was Oliver Donoghoe who shot 34pts to take top spot and the crown of Player of the Year 2016. Also a late charge by Neil Brady with 37pts was just short by one point. Ian Reilly who was up at the top of the leader board most of the year just came up short with 26pts to finish 3rd overall.
Thanks very much to Cathal Reilly who again sponsored the prizes and fed us all afterwards, well done to all who made the effort to attend the presentation in Reilly’s Bar Drumlish yesterday afternoon.
We will be having our Xmas party/Presentation night and AGM in December. Dates to be advised in the coming weeks.
Results on the day as follows:

2nd Place: Neil Brady 37 Pts
